I see your vision, Ma! You’ve been working hard
to lose weight and get the body you desire. The weight is coming off and you’ve started seeing results, but you’ve noticed that as the pounds go, your curves are going along with them. Contrary to popular belief, you can lose weight and KEEP YOUR CURVES naturally without having to resort to going under the knife. In part one of this series, I’ll teach you how to eat to burn fat.

Achieving your body goals doesn’t mean counting calories and going on extreme fad diets. If your goal is to lose fat while building muscle simultaneously, there are three simple guidelines you can follow:

  1. Drink plenty of water

Drinking water not only cleanses your body of waste and toxins, but it helps boost your metabolism and decrease your appetite, thus promoting weight loss. The goal is to drink half your body weight in ounces. So if you weight 160 pounds, you would drink 80 ounces of water daily. Increasing your water intake also helps reduce fluid retention and releases water weight.

  1. Keep carbs as low as possible

A low carb and a high protein diet is optimal for weight loss. Carbs are a part of a balanced diet but people sometimes fail to realize that white carbs are made of refined sugars and are a leading cause of belly fat. Whole grain, unprocessed carbs are slow to digest which helps us feel fuller longer and regulates our blood sugar. Get your carbs in but make sure they’re the good carbs.

  1. Increase your daily protein

Eating more protein helps you eat less and increases weight loss.. Protein has been shown to help keep you full longer, speed up your metabolism, and even help build muscle more efficiently. Here are a few ways to incorporate protein into your diet:

  1. Swap your regular yogurt for greek yogurt
  2. Choose eggs over cereal
  3. Add protein powder into smoothies/drinks
  4. Eat a handful of nuts instead of chips
  5. Snack on hard boiled eggs

To get the best results, commit to at least thirty days of following these eating guidelines. Once you reach your body goals, enjoying your favorite meals on occasion won’t be too detrimental! Until next time…
